Snow Leopard - (Panthera uncia)

The Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia) is the ghost of the mountains — a rare and elusive predator whose pale, spotted coat blends seamlessly into the high peaks of Central Asia. Revered for its quiet strength and haunting beauty, it is among the most mysterious of the great cats.

Adapted to some of the harshest environments on Earth, snow leopards prowl rocky cliffs and alpine slopes at elevations above 15,000 feet, feeding on blue sheep, ibex, and other mountain prey. With thick fur, wide paws that act like snowshoes, and a tail nearly as long as its body, it is perfectly built for survival in the cold and thin air. Despite its power, it is shy and solitary, a creature seen only by those willing to follow the silence of the high ranges.
