Golden Dart Frog - (Phyllobates terribilis)
Brilliant, unyielding, and deceptively small.
the Golden Dart Frog (Phyllobates terribilis) is the most poisonous frog on Earth. Cloaked in radiant yellow armor, it is nature’s ultimate paradox: mesmerizing in beauty, yet harboring a toxin so potent it can stop many predators in its tracks.
This remarkable species exists only within a tiny, isolated pocket of rainforest along Colombia’s Pacific coast, a region so limited it barely registers on a map. Within that humid, leaf-littered world, Phyllobates terribilis feeds on small ants, mites, and beetles that gift it its extraordinary toxicity. Indigenous Emberá hunters once used its skin secretions to tip blow darts, a testament to its feared precision in the natural order. In the wild, few animals embody such concentrated brilliance and danger in one breath.
